RightingFinance submits feedback on priority issues for Inter-American human rights body

In a recent statement RightingFinance called on the regional human rights body to address the role of US/Canadian investors in human rights-sensitive sectors in the Americas and the impacts of US- and Canadian-signed investment treaties on the ability of other countries to comply with their human rights obligations.

The demands were part of a submission delivered at the Sixth Consultation on the Situation of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (United States and Canada) held by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. The consultation was meant to gather inputs from civil society on what are the priority issues that should be tackled by the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Unit of the Commission. It was held on January 26 2016 at the Organization of American States’ headquarters in Washington DC.
